There’s no other show on WDAV-FM quite like this. Sure, it’s all classical music – liberally defined. Beyond that, it defies definition. Except for this: “This is the music that floats my boat,” the host tells his listeners. “I hope you’ll like it, too.”

CSO Set To Reach 3-Year Broadcast Agreement with WDAV
Today WDAV Classical Public Radio and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra (CSO) announced an unprecedented three-year agreement to bring the area’s largest professional orchestra to the airwaves. Beginning with the 2010-11 season, WDAV will produce and broadcast seven of the CSO’s classical concerts each season through 2013. The agreement, forged among WDAV, CSO management, CSO musician representatives, and Local 342 of the American Federation of Musicians, is pending ratification by the full membership of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
Charlotte Symphony Names Assistant Conductor
From a press release issued by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, June 17, 2010:
The Charlotte Symphony and its Music Director Designate, Christopher Warren-Green, announced today the appointment of Jacomo Rafael Bairos as Assistant Conductor. Bairos (pronounced BYE-ros) will join the Symphony conducting staff in mid September, beginning an initial two-year engagement as Assistant Conductor.
Charlotte Symphony Announces Replacement Conductor for Season Finale
POSTED Monday, April 19, 2010 — As a result of the ash cloud from the recent volcano eruption in Iceland that has mandated closures of virtually all European airports and cancellations of flights, the Charlotte Symphony (CSO) announced today that Christof Perick is unable to travel to Charlotte to rehearse and conduct his final concerts as Music Director on April 22, 23 and 24.
Charlotte Symphony Meets Its Year-End Fundraising Challenge

The Charlotte Symphony (CSO) announced today that it has received the $500,000 in gifts necessary to match a challenge grant offered in August. The half-million-dollar challenge, which had to be met by December 31, 2009, was pledged anonymously.

Charlotte Symphony Receives Two Million-Dollar Gifts in One Day
The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra announced today that it has received pledges of $1 million contributions from two of the region’s most generous arts philanthropists: Jane & Hugh McColl, and the C.D. Spangler Foundation.
Charlotte Symphony Musicians Ratify Contract
The Charlotte Symphony Board and musicians have agreed to a new four-year contract which reduces the number of paid working weeks in the Symphony season. The parties negotiated the contract in the face of significant financial challenges facing the Symphony as part of an effort to restructure and stabilize financial operations.
