It is with very mixed emotions that I write to let you know you’ll soon be hearing a different voice during the midday. I have accepted a position with All Classical Portland in Oregon and will be bidding Charlotte farewell very soon. I look forward to this new opportunity for professional and personal growth, but I will miss my colleagues, and I’ll miss you, the listener. It has been an honor to share the music with you as your classical companion these past six and a half years.
Fortunately, we won’t be parting ways completely. I’ll still be your host for terrific film scores on Reel Music, Friday nights at 8:00. And while the voice you hear during the midday will change, the music will not. WDAV will continue to provide you with the same classical mix you’ve come to expect from us. The Mozart Café, the One O’Clock Waltz, and the Midday Masterpiece will all continue.
I hope you will continue to listen to and support WDAV. It is a privilege to have an all-classical public radio station in the community, a privilege that is increasingly hard to find around the country, and WDAV is one of the best, a true gem. You ensure its future with your donations. You are the “public” in public radio. The music is here for you, because of you. And even though I’m moving to a new station, my support of WDAV and its incredible staff remains. You’re in the good hands of a dedicated, talented, and knowledgeable crew, so let the music play on.
Once more, it’s been an honor. Take care.
Matt Rogers
